From Dream To Reality
This client wanted a swimming pool that had a large sunning ledge, a 40′ lap lane, a large shallow end for water games, and a spa. Around the pool, she wanted an area for cooking and socializing with lots of patio space for dining, lounging, and sunbathing.
This project came with its own set of challenges:
- Lot impervious coverage allotment from being in the critical area zone of Church Creek and the South River
- A large septic field taking up over 2/3 of the backyard.
Through the design process, we were able to come up with a creative design that kept us under the maximum impervious coverage allowed by the Critical Area Commission and we were able to work with the County Health Department to successfully alter enough of the existing septic field to give us enough room for the project.
Lighting
We decided to go with a slightly modern twist with the all-glass tiled 360-degree overflow ‘ice cube’ spa and the angular free form shape to the pool. We also installed a proper lighting layout in the pool, really giving the pool the ‘wow’ factor after the sun goes down.
Outdoor Kitchen
An outdoor kitchen allows you to keep a pool party fully in the backyard. No need to make trips to the kitchen for food and drinks.
This outdoor kitchen features a 32″ Blaze grill, a Perlick Mini Fridge and PCM Ice Chest, as well as a trash/recycle pullout cabinet and under grill storage drawer. It’s also veneered in 2″ architectural real stone, while the countertops are granite.
Paver Patio
The area around the pool is just as important as the pool itself. Our goal is to build entire outdoor environments, so we incorporate everything together in a cohesive design.
This client wanted a patio with enough space to sunbathe, as well as house an outdoor kitchen. We installed Blue60 Shale Grey pavers to tie in the pool to the surrounding space. The smooth finish on the pavers is perfect for the barefoot crowd.
